On the move

Our original agreement with Sue was to rent the Greenhouse Studio for three months from December and, because the lease on the Greenhouse comes to an end in July, to look for somewhere more permanent while here. So we've been looking around for a house to rent in Luang Prabang and think we've found somewhere special.

Our new home from home is similar in size to the GH studio but a little further away from town. It'll mean a 30 minute walk into the centre but it has stunning views across to the mountains. Also a garden with mangos and bananas. We'll move at the end of January. How exciting!

It feels quite adventurous to be transitioning from occasional visitors/tourists to proper "residents". Grown-up activities such as how to pay electric bills and order water will need to be learnt.

Beans are coming on. I'll probably have to leave them here though. I'll take the tomatoes with us

The centre of Luang Prabang is a hill with a temple on top. Phousi Mountain

At this time of year everywhere there's the sweet smell of this flower at night

Not everything is rosy - especially for this poor croc

I quite like a bit of frugal living. This was my Christmas dinner this year! Commonly known as khao phat (cow pat)!

On Christmas Day we took a tuktuk a few kilometres out of town and walked along the banks of the Nam Khan river

This temple on the high street has been recently restored. It's especially beautiful at night
